PeopleSoft/Bay Navigator – Adding and Dropping Classes

Description

A student wishes to add or drop a course in PeopleSoft (Bay Navigator), get assistance with enrollment error messages, or search the course schedule.

Adding a Course

To enroll in courses, have the user perform the following steps:
  1. Log into PeopleSoft (Bay Navigator).
  2. Select Self Service.
  3. Select Enrollment.
  4. On the Enrollment page, select Enrollment: Add Classes.

  1. Select the term you need.

  1. Select Continue. You will be taking to the Add Classes Screen.

  1. Add a course to your shopping cart. You can do this 2 ways:
    1. Enter the class number of the course directly.
      1. Each class has a unique number corresponding to it. The class number is found in the Schedule of Classes.
      2. Enter the class number in the field and click Enter.
      3. Before a class is added to your enrollment cart, you can edit the enrollment preferences.
      4. Click the Next button to add the course to your enrollment cart.
    2. Search for the classes in the schedule of classes.
      • Click the Search button to locate classes meeting the criteria selected.
      • To add a class to your enrollment cart, click Select Class.
      • Before a class is added to your enrollment cart, you can edit the enrollment preferences.
      • Click the Next button to add the course to your enrollment cart.
      • Classes successfully added with display with a green check mark and a success message.
      • Classes not added display with a red ‘X’ and an error message.  Review any error messages for an explanation of why a class was not added.
      1. The Add process is now complete. You can add another class, or view your class schedule under Enrollment section on the left panel.
  2. Confirm the classes you wish to add are present. When finished, select Finish Enrolling to continue.
    • If you need to make any changes, select Previous to go back to the course selection screen.
  3. View the results of your enrollment requests.
    1. Classes successfully added with display with a green check mark and a success message.
    2. Classes not added display with a red ‘X’ and an error message.  Review any error messages for an explanation of why a class was not added.
  4. Search for a class in the Schedule of Classes.

Dropping a Course

To drop an enrolled course, have the user perform the following:

  1. Log into PeopleSoft (Bay Navigator).
  2. Select Enrollment.
  3. On the Enrollment page, select Enrollment: Drop Classes.

  1. Select the term you need to drop the class from. Select Continue.

  1. Mark the checkboxes of those classes you wish to drop.
  2. Select Drop Selected Classes.
  3. Review the selected class to be sure you want to drop it. Select Finish Dropping to confirm.
    1. If you need to make any changes, select Cancel to go back to the course selection screen.
  4. View the results of your drop requests.
    1. Classes successfully dropped with display with a green check mark and a success message.
    2. Classes not dropped will state why. Review any error messages for an explanation.
  5. View your class schedule under Enrollment section on the left panel. You will notice that status of that class as Dropped.

Error Messages

Prerequisite Errors

A student will receive an error message when they are trying to add a restricted course/ courses that need prerequisites before adding the particular course. Please contact Advising or the Registrar for assistance.

“You do not have access to enrollment at this time.”

This message may be displayed due to the student’s account being deactivated or their application being cancelled. Please request the student to contact Registrar’s office to re-activate their account / application: http://www.massbay.edu/registrar/

Viewing Course Schedules

To view the course schedule, have the user perform the following:

  1. Go to http://www.massbay.edu/
  2. Select Academics.

  1. Select Course Offerings.
  2. You can now search all offered courses by various search parameters, like term, campus, or major.
  3. The direct link for the course schedule is https://mbccweb.massbay.edu/
